5 Easy Ways To Be More Organized in 2022

December 29, 2021

,

During this time of year, you hear a lot about how the new year is a time for you to start over – and it’s true!

All the things that frustrated you about this past year don’t matter now. You have a completely blank slate with lots of possibilities!

As you prepare to ring in the new year and, perhaps, a new you – here are some easy ways to take action and get organized so you can be more productive in 2022.

  1. Identify Weak Areas & Pain Points

The first step to making any change is to identify your weak areas and pain points. Where did you feel a lack of control and order most in 2021? What areas of your life are you committed to making a change? Don’t overdo yourself – choose just one or two areas to focus on and you’ll be successful!

  1. Declutter

Many of us start doing this before the holidays as the new year approaches and guests are arriving; while some of us are just too busy with holiday hecticness to get much of anything done. Make three piles: Keep, Toss & Donate. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, donate it. If you have things that have been stored away for years on years, move them on out! Creating more space with less clutter will give you an immediate sense of relief and peace.

  1. Storage & Filing Solutions

Minimize your stress and time wasted looking for things by creating a storage and filing solution that works for you. There is no cookie-cutter solution, but you can find many suggestions online. Areas like your pantry, cabinets, and closets are a great place to start. Get rid of unnecessary paperwork, scan what you need and shred the rest!

  1. Calendars & Scheduler

You may have outgrown a daily planner, but it’s time to bring it back! Using a calendar or scheduling system will provide you with a sense of stability for your days. Knowing what needs to get done and when it needs to be completed is best accomplished when written down and properly planned. Don’t forget to make time for yourself on your calendar!

  1. Create Routines

Humans are creatures of habit, and we naturally crave routine and structure.  This almost always allows for you to be more productive and efficient when they are properly followed. You can create daily, weekly, and monthly routines to keep you on track throughout the year.  Creating simple daily routines like cleaning up your desk before signing off from work or designating a day each week for laundry will help to keep your responsibilities and chores from piling up.

In the New Year, resolutions are made, changes are welcomed, and new ideas are formed. However you choose to do so is up to you! If you need more suggestions or help with local referrals, contact me!
