With summer well on the way, it may be time to give your outdoor living space a bit of an upgrade!
Many of us spend much of our time outdoors during the summer and it’s important that your home be a comfortable and enjoyable place to do so!
You don’t need a big budget or million-dollar home to create your own outdoor paradise worthy of a magazine spread! All you need is a little time, a bit of some DIY motivation and these helpful tips!
Here are five great ideas to help you transform your green space into a beautiful oasis on a budget!
Build a Deck/Patio Area
If you’re not sure where to begin with your backyard remodel, why not start with a deck or patio? This feature will instantly give your yard major appeal, provide a more comfortable space, and it adds resale value to your home. You can lay down a concrete patio or build a wooden deck to adorn with patio furniture!
Create A Stone Path
If you don’t have a green thumb but still seek a ‘garden’ type of style, a stone path is a great transformation idea! You can use materials like mulch, bricks and stones to create a walking path or even make a design in one area of the yard. Spruce it up with your own flair using yard decorations like glow-in-the-dark rocks or solar-charged lighting.
Set Up A Trellis
A trellis is an excellent idea for adding a little charm to your yard and can be a great project for the whole family! It’s easy to set up a simple trellis with metal poles or wooden boards. You can plant a variety of species to grow up and across the trellis such as climbing roses or an allamanda vine.
Start An Herb Garden
If you love to cook fresh, having your own herbs readily available is a must! It’s relatively easy to grow common herbs such as basil, parsley and thyme. Most of the herbs can be bought at a juvenile stage so you can plant them at home. If you don’t have much room in your outdoor space, consider a vertical garden with wall planters. It’s easy and affordable and can be done with simple planter boxes and pots!
Add Some Color
The simplest splash of color can brighten any space – especially outdoors! Add a touch of color with vibrant flowers such as the bougainvillea that flowers all year long, coral honeysuckle that will attract hummingbirds or a petrea vine for a soft touch of lavender flower clusters. You can also use decorative pieces around your outdoor space or use the space on your walls and fences to create a beautiful mural!
I understand not everyone is a fan of the DIY projects but enhancing your outdoor space is a priority for you. There are several local professionals that specialize in these services that I have worked with through the years and I’d be happy to introduce you!
